Saugeen Shores is home to the renowned Southampton Art School which was established in 1957 by artist, Bert Henderson. Since the Art School opened, people of all ages and ambitions have arrived to learn…watercolours, oil, acrylics, printmaking, landscapes, still life, fabric art, sculpture, stained glass, and collage – for a day, a weekend, a week, in the school or on location, adult or children’s classes, whatever suited their time and ambitions. Our instructors are among the best artists with a gift for passing on their knowledge, expertise and joy in their art to beginners, professionals and every stage in between.

Anita is a professional artist living in Goderich, Ontario and has enjoyed being a working artist, teaching classes and workshops for all ages in Ontario and in the Tampa Bay area since 2000. She is an Elected Member of CSPWC and the Western Ontario Director for CSPWC.
Annette is a self-taught artist and has painted for over 20 years. She lives in rural Ontario - the perfect place to find inspiration for her artwork! Annette loves to incorporate as many colours as possible into her nature scenes to help bring them to life.
Antje Martens-Oberwelland studied at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, Germany, has exhibited widely and is an experienced art instructor. As a certified energy medicine practitioner she likes to combine her skills to inspire creativity.
Bev Morgan is a proud member of the Southampton Art Centre, Federation of Canadian Artists and Saugeen Artists Guild. She enjoys sharing her Watercolour and Scratch Art passion to others privately, local community groups, zoom, cruise lines and online art courses (Udemy.com)
Bill is a landscape painter from Port Elgin Ontario. His work is bold and colourful in both Acrylics and Oils. Bill has a degree in Fine Art from the University of Guelph and an Honours Specialist Certificate in Fine Art Education from York University.
Cindy is the owner of Conscious Creations Art in Lucknow, ON, and teaches over 30 craft classes. She has been teaching classes for 12 years. She is an artist and stained glass crafter and enjoys helping others make beautiful creations.
Dagmar works primarily in fibers as well as drawing. For number of years, she has been teaching courses in in fibers and drawing, helping her students to unfold their creativity. Her work was exhibited across Canada, the U.S.A., Europe and China.
As an adult, Greg sketches and paints to record daily life and the inspiration he finds while exploring new and sometimes faraway places. Plein air painting allows time for contemplation, revealing the true mood and character of a place.
Hi-Sook Barker is an experienced full time teacher known for floral and landscape paintings in an impressionistic style. She is an elected member of the C.S.P.W.C and a signature member of the T.W.S. Hi-Sook currently teaches at several locations throughout Durham Region.
As a visual artist and art instructor, Jacintha’s work is primarily in acrylics and mixed media as well as watercolour and ink. Using different techniques and tools and experimenting with pushing the boundaries of colour, form and the play of light has made her the artist that she is.
Jane Haslam is a glass and fiber artist and was a founding member of The Southampton Gallery. This is her second year teaching weaving at the Southampton Art School.
Janet's paintings are devoted to rugged landscapes in all seasons. Ranging from expansive panoramas to the tiniest lichen, she tries to connect the viewer with wilder textures of the natural world. She has an MFA from York University and has been an arts educator for 22 years.

Jen has had over 30 years of teaching experience and is passionate about sharing her joy of photography with others. The director of The Arts Warehouse in Port Elgin, Jen offers workshops for the beginner to advanced enthusiast.
John is an enthusiastic, passionate advocate for pushing paint. Over 25 years of classes, workshops and art schools, his own painting practice, shows and gallery representation is evidence of that commitment. Sharing that excitement & practical painting skills is what he does.

Karen Brioux has spent the last 35 years teaching art to all ages. She studied fine arts at Sheridan College. She lives in Oakville. She has spent the past 10 years teaching art therapy at senior’s residences. She loves sharing her skills and her love of art.
Kari Bronaugh founded BocHord Bookbinding in Owen Sound in 2018 after completing the core curriculum through the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild in 2016. These days she can be found exploring book structures, fulfilling commissions, and teaching bookmaking workshops.
Margaret Grottenthaler (aka the lawless needle) is a Toronto and Port Elgin based textile artist whose work often combines quilting, fabric collage and embroidery. Her work is inspired by her garden, the Lake Huron landscape and just about every other thing of beauty she sees.
Maria’s Italian heritage and the 15 years she lived in Pakistan greatly influenced her artwork. Each piece she creates is unique, embodies her holistic vision of the world, and is meant to inspire and uplift its viewers. Maria is a member of the Embroiderer’s Association of Canada.
Maria is an artist dedicated to making handcrafted jewelry using high quality materials such as gemstones, crystals, beads, sea glass, wire, and chain. She was born in Colombia, but has been living in Canada for over 30 years. She moved to Kincardine five years ago with her husband.
Marianne Gibson earned her Fine Art Honours B.A. from the University of Guelph. Working in various mediums, she has focused on encaustic for the past 14 years. Her art displays spontaneity and energy, be it the curves of a life drawing or the textural brushstrokes of encaustic.
Marion Anderson is an artist and art instructor based at Alder Creek Studio in New Dundee Ontario. She inspires her students by setting the example of ‘practicing what she preaches’!
Marta Scythes is an illustrator-researcher-educator. Her work has been published by Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins and McClelland & Stewart (UP NORTH nature series). She is currently collaborating with Queen's University, researching novel strategies for stroke rehabilitation.
Mary Burke is a Niagara artist living in Port Colborne Ontario. Mary has always had a love of both art and history, and through her paintings of small town Ontario Streetscapes, has found a way to combine her two loves. Her work was presented at the Southampton Museum last fall.
Maureen McLeod has a Fine Arts degree from University of Guelph in sculpture and painting. Her travels too many different countries and exposure too many cultures have brought inspiration and creativity to her work. She works in clay and paints large abstract life figures. Maureen has worked with clay for many years and has taught in Canada, United States and Europe. She continues to enjoy teaching adults and children and is always delighted with the magic her students bring to a class.
Michele Van Maurik is an award winning and internationally recognized artist from Oakville Ontario who is best known for her larger than life, light filled floral paintings.Her work has been published in several major art publications and she is a sought after instructor.
Nadia works as the kitchen manager at The Wellness Refinery in Sauble Beach. Her passion for cooking/baking started at a young age and she is continuously finding new ways to expand her knowledge and skills. A fun fact about Nadia, the most important ingredients in her kitchen are her herbs & spices, she loves having a variety of spices on hand, and is always trying and adding new ones to her collection.
Rachel is a former professional Calligrapher who fell in love with Gothic Calligraphy at age 13, and taught herself by using a calligraphy kit. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and introducing students to the art of calligraphy.
Bespoke Master-Carver Siggi Buhler was born and raised in Wengen, Switzerland. In 1983 he completed his apprenticeship at the Schule fur Holzbildhauerei of Brienz, in the classic and rigorous Swiss wood-carving techniques. He has been a professional Wood-Carver ever since.
Tania Klimasko-Hoffman is an award winning watercolour painter. She taught Arts for WRDSB for 33 yrs. Using a loose, intuitive style; Tania paints vivid, colourful impressionistic landscapes, florals and portraits. She loves to travel and paint plein air in the Canadian north.
Yasmine Louis is a silkscreen artist based in Toronto. She has featured her printed products in the largest arts and craft shows across Canada. In the past few years, she has taken her work in many directions, including public art and installations.
