Anne Schnurr

Anne Schnurr is a full time visual artist working in Georgian Bluffs, Ontario. She is new to the area, having moved her studio practise from Guelph, ON to Springmount in 2024. She received a Fine Art degree at the University of Guelph and specialized in sculpture, design and painting. Today Anne Schnurr is a mixed media artist, currently working with acrylic and oil paint. After completing her degree and taking a long hiatus from Guelph, she returned in the late 1990’s to raise a family and devote her time to family and a career as a Visual Arts high school teacher. Throughout these years she continued her own studio art practise and worked with disengaged youth on community art projects. She founded an organization called YAP - Youth Art Project which engaged at risk youth in creative projects throughout Guelph. She, also, participated in regional Arts Festivals, Art on the Street, co-ordinated large, community generated murals, was one of the founding members of the White Stone Artist Collective, contributed to numerous charity auctions and art centred initiatives and belonged to the Trafalger Street artists group. Schnurr is currently an exhibiting artist at Headwaters Arts Gallery in Alton Mill and also, a participating artist in the annual Guelph Studio Tour. In 2019, Schnurr retired from teaching art to resume full-time work in her studio. She works with abundant gratitude and humility that she is fully on the creative path - creating life and creating art.
