Emily Bi

Emily Bi lives in Annan, Ontario and enjoys depicting the beauty of nature with expressive Ink Washing (Chinese brushwork) and with acrylic on canvas. An avid gardener and collector of peony and native plant species, Emily’s love of plants, birds and the landscapes of Grey/Bruce define her work. Emily first delved into Ink Washing in 2009. She works mainly in the style of traditional brushwork, Freehand (Xieyi), which is loose and expressive. While Chinese brush painting has been a mainstay in her life and is central to her aesthetic, she has been exploring acrylic painting and other local art styles under the guidance of local instructors since 2018. Having cultivated their garden for nearly fifteen years in Annan, Ontario, Emily and her husband Dennis host an annual garden event - Among the Peonies to their garden oasis, “Gingko Footprints”. Peonies, native plants, birds and the landscapes of Grey Bruce are her favorite painting subjects.
