Open Studio Plein Air
In November 2016, a group of Bruce County residents collectively came together to create a space that allowed them to work on their individual art practice while still being a part of a social environment. This group, known as the Open Studio, has been able to organize this shared studio space through the Southampton Arts Centre by making use of the empty Art School during the winter months.
Due to scheduled courses, the Southampton Art School is not available during the summer months. Therefore, the participants of the Open Studio have decided to try something new. During the summer of 2018, weekly plein air events will be scheduled in order to allow this social and creative space to live on throughout the year. There are a number of pre-selected locations in the local area that the Open Studio will be traveling to and would like you to join them! All skill levels are welcome from beginners to experts. There is no instruction available; just a group of friends creating art together. These sessions will be of specific interest to sketchers and painters, but everyone is very welcome (zentanglers, knitters, journalers, carvers, quilters etc). No charge.
A list of dates and locations have been posted below.
If you would like more information, please go to the Open Studio website or call the coordinators; Bonnie Holtom (226-992-0003) or Kathy Guenkel (519-374-7027).
