The participants will explore various dry drawing mediums to find the one they resonate with, learn to understand design elements from the intuitive mode of consciousness, and develop new levels of understanding of their own style of work.
Cancellations and Refunds
• A cancellation fee (15% of the course fee) will be deducted for any class canceled by the student more than 14 days before the class starting date.
• NO REFUND is given on classes the student cancels less than 14 days before the class begins.
• If a course is canceled by us, registrants will be given two week’s notice.
• Full refunds will be paid if the course is canceled by the school for any reason.
• There will be no discounts, refunds, credits or transfers for classes not attended.ImportantInformation about our Classes:

• Southampton Arts is not liable for any injury or loss/damage to possessions.
• Southampton Arts reserves the right to change a workshop’s location or replace an instructor with the same qualifications, for a class to run.
• Smoking is NOT allowed inside or within 3 meters (10 feet) of the buildings.
• Material Fees are not included in the course cost and are payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Material fees are listed with the class descriptions, and cover supplies provided for you by the
instructor.
• Material List means that you are required to bring your own supplies, based on the list provided.

Graphite pencils to represent 3-4 grades of hardness of the B scale– e.g. 2B, 6B, 8B
• A choice of: contè, pastels, charcoal sticks or charcoal pencils, graphite sticks,
watercolour pencils – hard, medium, and soft – in black, white, and your choice of 2-3 browns. It is OK to bring just a couple of these mediums to try. You may decide later on to get more.
• Good quality plastic eraser (e.g. Steadtler)
• Wide soft brush (2” ) to brush off eraser bits (Optional)
• Kneaded eraser
• Blending stumps – assortment of sizes, 2-3 for each medium (tortillons )
• Drawing board (18" x 24" – hard drawing support with smooth finish)
• masking tape to hold the paper to the board
• A stiff folder to carry your drawings home safely (you can improvise with two sheets of cardboard size 18x24” clipped with 4 bulldog clips ) (optional)
• Drawing paper – size 18”x24” - a pad of drawing paper - student grade or better (Canson
from Michaelʼs is ok) 2-3 for each day
• A pad of newsprint paper size 18 x 24”
• A stack of cheaper paper in smaller sizes (9” X 12” approximately)– sketch paper, printer
paper, newsprint paper – we will use approx. 10 each class
• a box of Kleenex tissue or a few paper towels
• Examples of works of your favourite art or artist(s) works, design, architecture, landscape, etc - in short, any of your favourite visual points of attraction. Bring hard copies only - printouts, magazines, or books - not images on electronic media.
