Enameling with Carl Durance
Date & Time: October 19-20th, 9am-4pm
Skill Level: Beginner
Material Fee: $40 payable to the instructor
Enameling is the ancient art of painting through fusion of powdered glass (aka frit) to a surface (in this course, copper). This may sound intimidating, but it is as simple as any other form of painting. Enamels combine the opaque characteristics of oils and the transparency of watercolours with their own idiosyncrasies to provide an exciting medium. Through this hands-on introduction to enameling, you will learn about metal preparation, application of enamel, including sifting, and wet application, kiln firing, and various forms of enameling like stencil, sgraffito, and grisaille.
