INTRODUCING SOUTHAMPTON ARTS' NEWEST COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROJECT!
You may have heard that Southampton Arts has been on the lookout for an adventurous, outdoor person to be a brand ambassador for us, and to represent us at the many festivals and events that take place locally. Happily, we have found Makenzy Harris, who has taken the position of ARTBike Jockey and Content Creator with Southampton Arts.
Makenzy has excellent community relations skills and clever, artistic ideas that she will share from the ARTBike this summer and fall. Kids will find that Makenzy is an enthusiastic instructor. With a background in Environmental Studies from the University of Windsor, she brings nature and sustainability into many of the crafts she shares with the youngsters.
Our customized promotional trike arrived from Icicle Tricycles in early July and since then it has captivated children and parents alike at various community locations. The ARTBike has been a draw at the Friday vendor market by the Coliseum and Art School, the Marine Heritage Festival and right outside at the Gallery on High Street.
The ARTBike is supported by the United Way of Grey Bruce and has found an off duty home in the Boat House, courtesy of the Marine Heritage Society.
Martin’s Bicycle Shop provided us with a lock to secure the bike while Makenzy steps away from her crafts. The ARTBike is truly bringing the community together.
