About the Artist

Amelia Kraemer (she/they) is an encaustic and mixed media artist based at Upwards Art Studio in the River District of Owen Sound, Ontario. They use layers of wax, paint, and ephemera to examine their own mental health while encouraging a positive perspective. She is passionate about their mediums and processes, and lead workshops guiding others to find their joy.

Exhibit Description

In this series, Amelia invites viewers to embark on their own personal journey through the depths of Lake Huron. Let the layers of wax, textures, and colours guide you towards a sense of tranquility, connection, and reverence for this magnificent body of water. May these paintings serve as a reminder of the delicate balance between humankind and nature—a call to protect and cherish the beauty bestowed upon us by the waters of Lake Huron.
