Artistic Training
Formal Education in Fine Art
Bill has a degree in Fine Art from the University of Guelph and an Honour Specialist in Fine Art from York
University. Bill has been a practicing artist for over forty years, but has been able to pursue his dream full
time for the past eight years after a rich career in education.
Mentorship and Teaching in Fine Art
Bill has been teaching Art classes and lecturing across the region since 1990. Bill teaches several classes a
year at the prestigious Southampton Art School and to several artist cooperatives in the region. Not only
does he teach, but has continued his passion to learn through active mentorships from well established
artists in Ontario. Bill takes classes in technical areas of painting from artists throughout Canada and the
U.S.A.
Administrative Training
Extensive training and experience in budgeting, asset allocation, staffing and conflict resolution as an
administrator with the Bluewater District School Board 2003-2017. These skills are invaluable in managing
grant allocations and budgeting for exhibitions and the required documentation.
My work mainly revolves around the landscape. I am attracted to images where the beauty and influence of nature is enduring and powerful. I use colour and expression as my way of capturing what I experience. I enjoy each brushstroke of pure colour as they work together to create my paintings. I am entranced in the surface of each painting, creating textured layers which drive the image as the viewer gets closer to the piece.
