Bonnie Hastings
Watercolour
Bonnie Hastings is a watercolour artist who delights in bringing the joy and beauty of nature
into the homes of her patrons. Shoreline living and a lifetime enjoying the diverse beauty of flora and
fauna inspire her work. Her “up close and personal” approach to composition
magnifies the beauty of her floral subject matter and she loves to depict the many moods of
Lake Huron. Currently she is enjoying the challenge of acrylic painting.
A native of Owen Sound, Bonnie attended Stratford Teacher’s College and worked in Ontario
and Quebec as a teacher, mother and medical assistant. She now enjoys retirement in
Southampton, Ontario.
Bonnie now frequently takes part in square foot shows and other displays across
Ontario, online shows and in local exhibitions. She is a member of the Shoreline Artists
Association and her work is currently available at Southampton Arts. At this time her paintings are in the
Westland Gallery in London and The Wild Goose Studio in Blyth.
She was in the Owen Sound Banner Project for three years. The Walkerton Library show
awarded her prizes for two consecutive years and she has received a number of awards from
GalleryRing.com and Lightspacetime.art.
A native of Owen Sound I have, for many years now, resided in beautiful Southampton.
I started painting with watercolour in 2011. The Southampton Art School provides me with a variety of courses to push my painting to new levels of excellence. I have always found pleasure in being outside among the flora and fauna and enjoy bringing this beauty and excitement into the homes of my patrons usually using watercolour. The variation of colour and shapes of flowers when seen up close really intrigues me and living near Lake Huron gives me the opportunity to paint the many moods of this great scenery. I am always looking for new and innovative ways to keep me excited about my work. I have recently taken courses on acrylics and am looking forward to giving it a try. Many galleries around Ontario have exhibited my work in their shows and I have won a number of awards for my watercolour paintings. My work may be seen in the Southampton Art Gallery and currently at Westland gallery in London and Wild Goose Studio in Blyth. I delight in creating something of beauty and happiness to share with others.
