Gayle Slinger
Acrylic
“As an artist of 30 plus years, I can easily say that I am ‘happiest at the beach.’ I am inspired by
my surroundings and totally obsessed with our local weather. I love painting the skies and the
lighting effects on the water and land below them. Painting provides me with joy as well as
challenges and as much as I love to paint, it is the challenges that lead me into pushing my
boundaries and trying something new.”
Gayle Slinger is an acrylic and watercolour painter whose work captures the quiet beauty and
emotion found in nature and everyday landscapes. With the use of subtle colour palettes, and a focus on mood, light, and movement, each painting
invites viewers to pause and experience a sense of calm, reflection, and connection.
Drawing inspiration from changing skies, shorelines, landscapes and the fleeting moments
between light and shadow, Gayle creates evocative works that balance realism with feeling.
Rather than simply depicting a place, her paintings aim to convey the atmosphere and memory of being there.
Originally from Toronto, and also a long time resident of London Ontario, in 2015 Gayle and her husband have made Sauble Beach their year round home. She continues to work on new
collections, while exhibiting at the Southampton Gallery and the Sands Hotel as well other local venues.
Originally from Toronto, Gayle began her art journey in the early 90’s when she moved to
London Ontario. There she belonged to a number of art groups taking classes from several
noted artists and exhibiting her own paintings. She later began teaching art workshops in
the Southwestern Ontario region as well as at the Southampton Art school.
