Valerie Jane Geard

Printmaking

Valerie Jane Geard earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of New Brunswick. Following further study with Canadian and American artists, Jane has evolved her work as a Printmaker. Resident in Southampton since the 1990’s, Jane has had a longtime association with the Southampton Art School and Gallery teaching and exhibiting her work She is an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists, The Society of Canadian Artists and Life member of the Colour and Form Society. Her work is found in private and public collections in the City of Toronto, The County of Bruce and the Government of Ontario Archives. Awards include First Prize in the John B. Aird Print Show and the Legion Paper Award at the Solar Impressions Show in New York USA.

I am a printmaker. My art often begins with a walk- a theme, an idea to pursue in thoughts as I make my steps. Lately, my work includes circles, the earth, the moon, the universe and all that seems to be around us in today's fast paced life.
