This hands-on experience will guide you through the process of creating stunning floral compositions on textured canvas, enhancing your watercolour techniques. You'll learn to capture the delicate details and rich colours of peonies while experimenting with texture to bring your artwork to life.

  • Cancellations and Refunds

    • A cancellation fee (15% of the course fee) will be deducted for any class canceled by the student more than 14 days before the class starting date.
    • NO REFUND is given on classes the student cancels less than 14 days before the class begins.
    • If a course is canceled by us, registrants will be given two week’s notice.
    • Full refunds will be paid if the course is canceled by the school for any reason.
    • There will be no discounts, refunds, credits or transfers for classes not attended.

  • ImportantInformation about our Classes:

    • Full payment must be made at the time of registration. We cannot hold registrations without payment.
    • Southampton Arts is not liable for any injury or loss/damage to possessions.
    • Southampton Arts reserves the right to change a workshop’s location or replace an instructor with the same qualifications, for a class to run.
    • Smoking is NOT allowed inside or within 3 meters (10 feet) of the buildings.
    • Material Fees are not included in the course cost and are payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Material fees are listed with the class descriptions, and cover supplies provided for you by the
    instructor.
    • Material List means that you are required to bring your own supplies, based on the list provided.
    • The class location will be listed in the description. We hold a variety of classes at different locations throughout Saugeen Shores. Please read the class description carefully.

  • Material List

    Paints:

    Yellow: Winsor Lemon (cool) Cadmium Yellow Pale (warm)

    Red: Perm Rose or Quinacridone Magenta (both are cool)

    Blue: Ultramarine Blue (warm – mixes with cool red for purple)

    Phthalo Blue: (or Winsor Blue GS Cool – makes a less saturated purple)

    Other colors:

    Burnt Sienna – an excellent mixing color

    Gesso for White paint if needed

    Any other paints you have – like Quinacridone Gold, other reds, blues
     

    SURFACE:

    This is a textured surface treated especially for painting Watercolor on Textured Canvas

    Either a canvas or cradled panel – size 20”sq up to a 36” square

    I use a canvas that has the texture:

    Gesso (I use Liquitex Professional Gesso) it’s a liquid

    Golden Light Molding Paste – Please note the name, this will give you the best results with watercolor.

    Use a synthetic brush, not your good sable brushes

    Great brushes for this:

    Neptune Princeton #4 round

    Round synthetic brushes, size 6 for details, size 10 or 12
     

    OTHER SUPPLIES: for texturing your canvas/panel

    Liquitex Gesso

    Golden Light Molding Paste

    Palette Knife to spread the mediums

    For Varnishing: Please note: varnishing will not be completed in workshop.

    The varnishes are for your information on how to display your paintings without framing.

    Dorland’s Cold Wax if this is your choice of varnish

    Golden MSA Spray Varnish – Gloss

    Golden MSA Spray Varnish – Mat or Satin

    Water container, paper towels, hair dryer, palette
