This course represents another module of Drawing with Intuition. Students will explore the relationship between gesture, emotion, and marks, using dry and wet media of graphite, pastel, conté, charcoal, and ink. While this course aims to extend knowledge learned in Part One of Drawing with Intuition, there are no prerequisites and new students are welcome.
Cancellations and Refunds
• A cancellation fee (15% of the course fee) will be deducted for any class canceled by the student more than 14 days before the class starting date.
• NO REFUND is given on classes the student cancels less than 14 days before the class begins.
• If a course is canceled by us, registrants will be given two week’s notice.
• Full refunds will be paid if the course is canceled by the school for any reason.
• There will be no discounts, refunds, credits or transfers for classes not attended.ImportantInformation about our Classes:
• Full payment must be made at the time of registration. We cannot hold registrations without payment.
• Southampton Arts is not liable for any injury or loss/damage to possessions.
• Southampton Arts reserves the right to change a workshop’s location or replace an instructor with the same qualifications, for a class to run.
• Smoking is NOT allowed inside or within 3 meters (10 feet) of the buildings.
• Material Fees are not included in the course cost and are payable to the instructor on the first day of class. Material fees are listed with the class descriptions, and cover supplies provided for you by the
instructor.
• Material List means that you are required to bring your own supplies, based on the list provided.

Graphite pencils ( in various hardness 2-3 for line B and line H - e.g. 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, and H, 2H, 6H)

A choice of at least two from these materials to work with : contè, pastels, and charcoal sticks or charcoal pencils – hard, medium, and soft - in black, white, or earthy browns only (you don’t need all these colours)

Good quality drawing/mixed media paper (90lb+): a pad (18x24)” ( 2-3 sheets per day);

a pad of drawing/mixed media paper of smaller size, e.g. (9x10)”

Ink/watercolour paper (suitable for wet media)– few sheets to experiment with

A pad of newsprint paper (18x24)”

Good quality plastic eraser (e.g. Steadtler) + wide soft brush (2” +) to brush off eraser bits

Kneaded eraser

Blending stumps – assortment of sizes, several of each
-
2-3 brushes –various width, suitable for ink drawing and washes (Chinese calligraphy brushes are good) -pointy plus flat, if you have them on stash

Optional1-2 wide brushes (2”, 3” or wider) use what you have in your stash

3- small jars for ink mixing, 1-2 larger containers to wash brushes

Drawing board (18" x 24" – any hard drawing support with smooth finish)

Masking tape

A folder to carry your drawings home safely (can be improvised using two stiff boards of 18x24” clipped together with 4 buldog clips)
