Job Title: Gallery Coordinator
Reports to: Centre Manager
Employment Type: Permanent, Part-time, 28 Hours/4 days a week
Wage: $26/hour
Schedule: Flexibility required for evenings/weekends during high season.

Position Summary
The Gallery Coordinator is the key point of contact for artists, customers, and visitors to the Gallery. Reporting to the Centre Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the gallery, ensuring smooth retail and exhibition functions, and maintaining a welcoming and professional environment that aligns with the Centre’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee retail operations, including sales processing, cash reconciliation, and inventory management.

Coordinate gallery staffing and provide training and support to staff and volunteers.

Act as the main liaison with gallery artists, managing contracts, inventory intake, and sales communications.

Curate and maintain gallery exhibitions to ensure an engaging and visually appealing space.

Prepare monthly artist statements and internal reports for the Centre Manager.

Maintain gallery supplies and ensure the space is clean, organized, and presentable.

Develop and distribute a monthly newsletter to gallery subscribers.

Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to the collaborative work of the Centre.
Qualifications & Skills

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills for working with artists, staff, volunteers, and the public.

Familiarity with inventory systems and spreadsheets.

Ability to multitask and work independently with attention to detail.

Experience in a gallery or retail setting is an asset.
-
Curatorial or visual arts experience is considered a strong asset.

Job Title: Festival Coordinator
​
Reports to: Chair of Southampton Arts Centre or their designate.
Location: Southampton, ON. May work from home during planning stage. But must live in Southampton or nearby, attend meetings in person as needed with local organizers, and be at the event Aug. 1-4).
Nature of work: Independent contractor (not an employee); client is Southampton Arts.
Contract terms:
Payment: Total compensation of $4,500. Paid in three lump sums of $1,500 each (approximately mid-July, early August and mid-August) on achieving key milestones.
Contract period: From hiring through mid-August. Set your own hours, but track and account for time spent, and tasks as assigned and completed. Must be fully available in person during all four days of the event, Friday through Monday, Aug. 1-4 (Civic long weekend), including Saturday evening

Responsibilities:

Overview: Ensure smooth and successful execution of Southampton Arts Festival 2025. Work with multiple organizers, liaise among multiple organizations and volunteers. Ensure a positive experience for attendees. Key responsibilities include managing logistics, promoting the event and handling various operational tasks.

Event management: Manage a Sidewalk Art event as assigned, including obtaining permits, promoting the event, registering participants, ordering supplies, coordinating on the day of the event. Recruit volunteer help as needed.

Communication, Promotion and Collaboration: Maintain communication with organizers at multiple participating groups, and with volunteers, coordinating schedules, and ensuring all parties are informed. Update brochure (Canva) and text for web page as needed. Produce and post social media content (Facebook, Instagram) to promote the event in advance and while the festival is in progress. During the festival, shoot photographs of the event in progress – to post on social media, and to submit to Southampton.

Data Collection and Reporting: Collect data on total festival attendees, participation in each event, and sale numbers (tickets, artworks) – working with other organizations to obtain their information. Collect participating organizations’ views on how well the festival went, or what needs improvement. Write and submit to Southampton Arts a final report on the outcomes, what worked well, challenges or concerns, and possible improvements in future years.​
Qualifications:

Mature, self-starter, good people skills, outgoing, organized.

Able to solve problems independently, while also reporting to over-all festival organizers.

Skilled in apps including Outlook, Word, Excel, Canva, Facebook, Instagram.

Good communications skills, both written and spoken.

Must have your own computer with access to internet and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), smart phone with a camera, driver’s license and access to a car.

Familiar with Southampton.
