My work is rooted in the search for connection—an exploration shaped by the
experience of coming from an immigrant background. I do not find “home” in one fixed
location, nor do I believe belonging is tied to geography alone. Instead, I create a sense
of place through relationships, through the act of building community wherever I arrive.
The natural world serves as my compass in this journey. Water, shorelines, and trees
have always grounded me, offering continuity in the midst of movement. They remind
me that stability can coexist with change, and that rootedness can be cultivated without
permanence. Just as the tide returns or a tree grows ring upon ring, these touchstones
remind me of resilience, growth, and the possibility of renewal.
At the same time, I see life as a carousel: its rhythms circling with both order and
unpredictability, its rotations filled with moments of darkness and bursts of color, silence
and music, grief and joy. Beneath the surface, emotions surge—sometimes messy,
sometimes overflowing in laughter, always carrying hope. This sense of life’s cycles
mirrors my own movement across places and cultures, shaping the textures and
imagery that emerge in my work.
Community becomes another kind of landscape—one that I carry with me and co-create
with others. My practice reflects this dual sense of place: the grounding presence of
nature and the emotional spirals of human experience.
Ultimately, my work is about cultivating belonging, not as a fixed destination, but as an
ongoing practice. It is about honoring nature’s quiet guidance, embracing life’s carousel
of contrasts, and recognizing that home can be made anywhere we choose to nurture
connection and joy.
