Position Title: Festival Coordinator
Location: Southampton, ON
Work-from-home is permitted during the planning stage; however, the successful candidate must reside in the Saugeen Shores area, attend in-person meetings with local organizers as required, and be available onsite for the festival (August 1–3).
Nature of work:
Independent contractor for Southampton Arts.
Position Overview
The Festival Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth planning and successful execution of the Southampton Arts Festival 2026. This role involves coordinating logistics, supporting collaboration among multiple organizations and volunteers, and helping to create a positive and engaging experience for attendees.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Chair of Southampton Arts Centre or their designate.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain clear and consistent communication with participating organizations and volunteers

Coordinate schedules and ensure all parties are informed and aligned

Update festival materials, including brochures (Canva) and website content

Develop and post social media content (Facebook and Instagram) leading up to and during the festival

Capture photographs during the event for social media use and post-event submissions

Oversee logistics to support the successful delivery of festival activities

Liaise with organizers/volunteers to ensure smooth day-to-day operations during the event

Track and collect data on festival attendance, event participation, and sales (tickets, artwork), collaborating with participating organizations as needed

Gather feedback from participating groups on successes and areas for improvement

Prepare and submit a final report to Southampton Arts, outlining outcomes, successes, challenges, and recommendations for future festivals.
Qualifications

Mature, self-motivated, and highly organized

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders

Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, Canva, Facebook, and Instagram

Must have access to a personal computer with internet and Microsoft Office, as well as a smartphone with a camera

Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Familiarity with the Southampton area is considered an asset
Contract Terms
Total compensation of $5,200, paid in four installments following completion of key milestones.
Contract Period:
From date of hire in May through to mid-August 2026. The coordinator may set their own hours during the planning phase but must track time and completed tasks. Full in-person availability is required during the three-day festival, July 31 through August 2 (Civic Holiday weekend), including Friday evening, Saturday during the daytime and evening, and Sunday.
